When you mention The Jaggerz to a Pittsburgher, chances are that person will burst into a chorus of
'THE RAPPER'.
From the 'Club Natural' in Beaver Falls PA to Dick Clarks 'AMERICAN BANDSTAND' in Hollywood CA was a long way off, but Benny Faiella, Donnie Iris, Jimmie Ross, Bill Maybray, Tom Davies & Jim Pugliano
Collectively know as The Jaggerz, made it.
After playing the club circuit seven nights a week, they broke into the college market. After a few summers at on Ohio Lake Resort 'Geneva on the Lake' The Jaggerz still found time to write and polish their craft.
In 1968 Gamble Records of Philadelphia, signed the band to their first recording contract. Their first album 'INTRODUCING THE JAGGERZ' spawned their first two regional hits.'Baby I Love You' and 'Gotta Find My Way Back Home'.
Other artists with Gamble Records at the time were, Jerry Butler, Dusty Springfield, The Intruders, Soul Surviors and the O'Jays.
In 1970 the band signed with Buddah/Kama Sutra Records in New York.
Their 2nd Album 'We Went to Different Schools Together' spawned the chart-topping hit
'The Rapper'.
March of that year, 'The Rapper' hit the #1 spot on the record world charts.
The Jaggerz have recorded 11 singles and 5 albums including one with legendary radio personality The late Wolfman Jack. They also produced & recorded Bobby Rydell and James (Moondoggie) Darren for their own production company, Sixuvus Revival Music Company.
The Jaggerz have been featured in articles in "People Magazine", "They came to play", "Celebrate the 70"s" , "Escort Magazine", "Cigar Lifestyles, and "In-Tyme Magazine".
In 2009, RAP star, "The Game" used a sample of a Jaggerz song 'Memoirs of the Traveler' from their 2nd album in his song "Letters to the King".
Jimmie Ross & Benny Faiella carry on the bands signature sound of great harmonies, with a current lineup of great musicians, Dennis McAbee, Jerry Coleman, Paul Martello, and horn section Ron Levi, Rich Mansfield and Jim Sheppard.
The Jaggerz are celebrating their 45th Anniversary this year.
The Jaggerz continue to perform select public and private shows, during the year.
